RECIPE-
I liked to work with iPhone camera. I tried several different camera apps but, I didn't really like it.
In my opinion, iPhone camera captures the image clearly without any special effect. So the most of time, I used iPhone camera and edit the colors later (I usually tried every options on edits and pick out the best result).
I also think focal point is really important to take good pictures. So I tried to find the focal point first and take a picture.
Thank you!

Photo number 1 caught my eyes right away. The glass is full of some mysterious drink and I have no way of finding out. The drink also reflects the table or maybe I am just looking through the drink. I also like photo number 3 just because it is a photo of flowers. I can feel the same way when I look at the flowers. I would like to take a photo of flowers too. In terms of which photo I would like to vote for, I would vote for photo number 12 because it really looks beautiful. Some clothes are for girls and some are for older ones. It makes me think about a family living in that house. There should be a parent and a child who wears that clothes hanging on the left. I also like how clear the sky looks in the photo. Finally, I like the lighting of the sun from the left side as well.
ReplyDeleteI really like your use of values in your photos. Although I am not usually a huge fan of text in photos, I think you pulled off photo 7 really nicely. I also think photo 6 is a very strong design. It is very minimalist, yet recognizable.
ReplyDeletePhoto 3 is my favorite for a few reasons. For one, the values are beautiful. The flowers act as a focal point, not only because they are centered, but also because of their brightness. A lot of times when I see a centered photo of flowers, I automatically write it off as cliché. I do not think this photo is cliché at all. I also really like the juxtaposition of subject matter – natural life against infrastructure and manmade objects. The brightness of the flowers contrast greatly with the cinder block wall and dark ivy encompassing it. The photo reminds me of nature’s perseverance.
Hey Ahyoung,
ReplyDeleteI think you worked really well with angles and framing in your photos. Nothing was really a head on photo and it worked for each picture, allowing for a complexity to each. I like 6 for that reason because you could have easily taken a photo directly underneath the lamps but you curved it. This allowed for a definition to the photo and contrast of shape. 13 is also a good photo for how you angled the water bottle to make it confusing as to where the bottom of the bottle was. You are able to take objects that many people know and give them new character. With that said I would vote number 6 as your best photo. When scrolling through your photos it was the one I would always stop on. It works very well in angling and contrast to allow for an engaging photo. It reminds me of floating lanterns the way you can't fully tell where the lights are hanging from.
I really like what you did. Pic 1 has really good detail on that, the bubble of wine and the reflect of wood pattern table, its full ancient elements. Pic 12 is also attract my eyes, it's looks so cute. From small to large, I can feel that happiness at all. My favorite one is Pic 6 because it give me very different feeling. Light ball with Mid century design metal square lampshade, amazing match, full classical quality.

DeleteA lot of your photos make me question the motivation behind their physical forms. Some of them seem like "jock" photos to me, particularly #5, #7, and #14. I would like to hear what you were feeling or trying to communicate in these photos, because I'm still working on expanding my perspective of things. All together, you have a great range of black and white tones; none of them appear flat. The picture I am voting for as your POW is #12. The horizon in this photo is the subject, which is clothes hanging on a line. I like the composition in reference to the angle of view. It gives off kind of a scary vibe, like it is a scene from a horror movie. With today's technological advancements, we rarely ever see clothes hang on a line; at least I don't. It makes me think about all of the energy and water we're using, and the progressive hopelessness of society.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy the variety of subjects you used for your photos. They made me feel as though you were capturing the world around you rather than focusing on a particular theme. My favorite photo and choice for your POW is #6. The framing and composition of this photo is fantastic and definitely captured the mysterious aspect of the assignment.
ReplyDeleteI like photo 14 a lot. Although there may not be much going on, the minimalist approach to taking the picture emits a captivating feel to the photo. It may be my screen, but I also see some shadowing effects going on in. The background almost looks greyish/white but supposedly black. Very interesting photo!
ReplyDeleteI like the 6th photo best. You can't really tell the setting and the only thing illuminated are the lights themselves. It's also interesting how the lights are positioned sort of in a scattered cluster.
