  1. I like photo 13 a lot- it not only has a sense of time passing over the location without anyone touching it, but also a sense of mystery- why is the door dented? who dented it? was it from working or playing around? I also like picture 23 because it reminds me of an old polaroid picture that is developed, but they were never quite crystal clear. It gives off a warm glow since it is not clear. Overall my favorite picture is 1. I like it the most because I feel like that statue could have been placed there yesterday or 100 years ago. It is the kind of artwork that we see in our textbooks and on TV from ancient times, and you did a great job of focusing on only this piece of art in your photo and not allowing anything else inside of the picture to show if it is in a location that is modern or that has been there for years. Very nice work!

  2. I like photo 3 in that it looks like it goes on forever. The use of black and white and the framing make it seem so and it works for me. I also enjoy photo 17 for it’s simplicity. I’m not entirely sure what’s happening in it and I found myself looking at it longer and longer to try to understand. It’s interesting in that you picked this space and then kept up with the black and white theme. It adds more mystery to the photo than there would be with color. I love photo 20 because the black parts of this photo are extremely interesting. I don’t know what they are and I like the golden hue of the light that illuminates them. How the light fades into the black is really beautiful and adds to the mystery of these objects. My favorite photo is 21. I like this photo because, being someone who has to be on the subway every other day, this photo really highlights all the details in the subway. There are so many colors, people, and pipes going on that the photo is very detail oriented. I want to look at everything in this photo. You colored it well in that everything stands out. I would vote photo 21 as POW.

  3. I think you have captured really good contrast such as 9, 19, and 22. Especially in 19, It is really interesting that there is a light coming out and that captured my eyes first instead of people in the background. Because my eyes are usually go to people in the picture. However, the light is strong in this picture and captured my eyes. Also I like the color in last picture. It feels really warm and telling me a spring is here. I am overwhelmed by the colors from last picture! I would like to vote for 24.

  4. Kang, you are very talented to capture beautiful photos. First of all, I really like photo 9. Old couples look like they still love each other. I am wondering their stories. Also, their faces are very expressive. Great models! For photo 2, a rose is placed in the middle of the frame. It might seem simple, but black and white makes it strong. Your self-portrait, photo 14, looks interesting because you took it against the light, but still visible and yellow/purple filter enhanced its vintage mood. Magnolia from photo 24 is so beautiful and a red Temple flag is well-matched with pink/white flowers. Finally, it is time to vote your POW. Photo 21, although few people are captured together, it seems like a girl with a suitcase is a main character. I am wondering whether she is going on a journey. All surroundings add city-vintage mood. Since her beanie, flannel shirts, and "danger" sign are red, photo 21 looks well-designed. I know it is really hard to compose vintage photos in city, but you did a great job. Again, I would like to vote photo 21 as your POW!

  5. When I initially scrolled through your photos, I was immediately drawn to photo 13. I agree with KT that there are a lot of questions that go unanswered with this photo, and that mystery can really resonate with your viewers in different ways. I also really like photo 9, although it may fall under the "cliche" category, something about two old people that have been together for their whole lives and still are so drawn to each other intrigues me as a viewer. And I think it was a good choice to use black and white here, since the background is so dark. My favorite photo is photo 22. I like the light from the show that is extrapolated in the corner of the frame. I want to see the rest of the stage. It is also a very fun picture. You could even improve the photo a bit by adding some type of layering to it to make it look like an older, torn up photograph- if you wanted to go with the whole memory theme. Good job overall, I love all your pictures.

  6. I really like photos 16, 21, and 23. Photo 16 is strong in its graphic nature. It is unclear what the black structure is, but it is positioned nicely within the frame. The textured clouds also contrast nicely with the black shape. The lightest clouds are interesting because they are closest to the horizon, creating a balanced composition. I like photo 21 because of how it centers the eyes. The girl across the platform is the clear focal point. The light in the center of the photo also creates a nice balance. I would have to vote for 23 as my favorite because of the color. The colors are bright and vibrant, but still seem slightly muted. The photo reminds me of family trips to the mountains in the early 2000s with disposable drugstore cameras.
