I increased some of the saturation in a few of the photos, using both the iPhone 5c photo app and Photoshop. Photos 1 and 6 were taken using an Android Galaxy phone, and later edited in the iPhone photo app. In this critique, I focused more on large-scale, landscape photos, instead of focusing on small scenes or objects. For some reason, I had more luck finding interesting colors within large, natural landscapes.

  1. Full beautiful scenery in your work, I love it so much. In addition, I like your shooting point of view. At the time of shooting scenery, the wider angle can get the better views. I think your works have reached this requirement. So I think it's fantastic. The sunset in Pic 4 is the one of the most beautiful I have ever seen before. But my favorite one is the SP--No, 15. Appropriate good depth of field, warm color attune, perfect composition makes me admire. The little green constitute color contrast. I guess you may want to show how to use these tools to draw the most beautiful yourself and the best life. So for POW I wanna vote No. 15.

  2. Rebecca/Becca, you must have great eyes to capture great scenes and another artistic knoledge to compose pictures. My only suggestion is you could have placed 2, 3, and 7 altogether. To me, those three pictures have a common theme, beautiful skyblue and pinkish sky. Then, you could have grouped 11, 13 and 14 together, along with a blue theme. The angle of your self portrait, photo 5, looks very interesting. You used a very low angle, so your photo displays a shelf/rack which makes this extraordinary. A blue door for photo 14 stands out so well. All of your photos are perfect. However, since I have to pick only one, I would vote photo 8 as POW. A foggy window adds a mysterious emotion so naturally to this photo. I spent literally few minutes to look this photo. Again, my pick is photo 8. Keep up the good work!

  3. Hi Rebecca, I think your pictures have really great color quality. Also, you have captured the objects really well such as photo 14, and 15. I like your photo 14 because It seems like mysterious door. The color of this picture create mysterious looking. And the way you took this picture, I do not see any window but only a door. I feel like there are some story behind it. Also photo 15 is my favorite picture of yours. I see pencils and brushes in the front, and your face in the back. Your face almost look like you are a doll. It seems like you are not going to move. I think this definitely make people keep looking at your photo.
I would like to vote for 15.

  4. I think that photo 8 is very interesting. I like that the photo is foggy- it reminds me of old England and i feel like i can be transported to another place and time. Photo 14 looks very simple yet mysterious- who is going in that door? Is it to a club, or just an apartment? Does it even go to anything? I love the thought of the mystery! And the pop of blue makes me question why blue was chosen instead of a plain color that would be more discrete. Overall I vote for photo 1 as the photo of the week. I like the color contrast from the sky and the garden. I also like that there is a lot to look at, and I am not even sure what it all is! Great job overall.

  5. You do a really great job of story telling in your photos. You compose the photos by setting a scene for the viewer, which is a great way to establish the two-way artist/viewer communication. I also think you utilized color very well. You can tell which pictures you wanted to bring out the color in (1, 4, 6, 11, 13, & 16). The saturation in these photos is not overdone, it is just enough to bring some life and vividness to the photos. On the other hand, I can tell when you want the photos to look more moody and ambient. For example, when comparing photos 13 and 14, the blue in photo 13 is a lot more vivid than the blue in 14. The city scene in photo 13 is lively to begin with, so I think the color really goes well with the content. The door is very mysterious, so I think bringing out the coolness of the blue rather than the electricity of it was a good choice. It makes me feel relaxed and comfortable, while a bright blue would probably make me feel disturbed. I choose number 10 for your picture of the week because it reminds me of when I used to come home from high school, kick my dirty shoes off, and forget to shut the door. The photo is playful and childish but also calming because of the warm color. I am wondering what happened to the person with the shoes. They must have been in a rush to get that after school snack!

  6. Photo 17 gets my vote! I love how you were able to capture the movement of water falling. I have tried to do that, and my photos turned out like...

Photo 10 does a great job at telling a mysterious story. I want to know more. Photo #1 is filled with accentuated colors. Awesome photo!

Photo 2 and 3 -- the blend of pink and blue gives the photos a soft and calming feel. I really like it.

  7. I like the way you frame your photos to allow for wide expanses of scenery to show. There can be a lot going on and then there can be very little. All of your environmental photos are very well shot and framed. One photo I like of yours is your self-portrait, number 15. I like how you used the pencils to hide your face and become the main focus of the picture. Putting your face behind the pencils works perfectly in adding mystery to the photo. Even with the pencils being the focal point my eyes are immediately drawn to the face behind them. You did a great job in coloring this photo to bring out the yellow tones of the photo. The pencils, paintbrushes, and your hair are all wonderfully playing off one another. I think my favorite photo of yours would be number 17. The brown and grey colors are wonderfully colored and brought to the surface. But then I see the blue in the photo and it really makes the photo interesting. It’s such a different color from what’s happening in the rest of the photo. You did a great job of exposing this color to the eye. I would vote photo 17 for POW.

  8. Photo 3, 15, and 17 are my favorites from your set. I like 3 because my eye was first drawn to the diagonal lines and it took my a second to realize I was looking at a bridge. I love 15 because your face is hiding behind the pencils and I think adding something yellow gives your photo a real burst. 17 would be my photo of the week for you. You don't really know what you're looking at at first glance but it works so well. The little hints of blue really add something special to the photo.
