I tried to work with the angles while I was taking photos. I think an angle is really important element. It could bring different looks depending on the angles. Also, I edited the saturation on many pictures since the topic was passion and color. I wanted to emphasize the vividity of colors by editing (some of the original pictures didn't show clear colors before I edited). I had a lot of fun playing with angles. And I was surprised how the angles affect on the pictures.
Thank you!

I really like these photos because of they apt life. The Angle and composition are very unique, and I can also see you use some filters make color more bright-coloured. My favorite photos are No. 1, 10, 11, 13 and 21. The ketchup in Pic 1 is the key point, red color always give us passion feeling, and the composition with sunrise light is the best combine. Pic 10 make me think the life is colorful. I really love the shape of light cover in Pic 11, and because of the shape, light became vivid. Conclusion: great toning and great composition. For POW, I vote 10.
ReplyDeleteAhyoung, your photos look vibrant and vivid. However, since many of your photos feature food, you could have grouped them altogether along with the food-craving theme. Photo 1 shows a red ketchup. Photo 5 displays yellow sunny-side-up eggs. Photo 8 shows a strawberry bingsoo, I guess. Photo 12 is about your favorite tea bags. Photo 19 is about fried shrimp. Photo 22 is your coffee break. I like your zoomed-in photos such as 2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 20 and so on. You explored small details which I really enjoyed. Among various closeness photos, I would vote photo 18 as your POW. While it shows a close wall, the way you compose lets audiences move their eyes from the right to the left. The wall points out people. You did a good job! Again, I vote for photo 18.
ReplyDeletePhoto 1 shows great accentuation of the color red. The shadow of the bottle makes the photo interesting to look at.
ReplyDeleteAwesome play with angles! 6, 14, 15, 16-18, 21, and 22 shows that you are were experimenting with angles, and looking at photos in a way that's not commonly viewed. One area of focus I think you should play with is editing as a way to enhance your photos.
Before I thought that renowned photographers are so skilled that they do not need to edit much, but what I found from my own experience is that editing is like make up -- if used appropriate, the goal of make up is to enhance the face. Possibly play with lightness and brightness to enhance the colors in your photos? I think if you start playing with photo editing apps more, that you will be able to take your photography to the next step!
Photo #14 got my vote(:

I really liked how you chose a wide variety of subjects to photograph for this critique. It really allowed me to see these photos from your point of view. My favorite and hoice for your POW would be #6. I found myself staring at this one for awhile trying to figure out exactly what it was. I think the composition on this one was great and I liked how the colors of the fabric faded from where it was in focus at the bottom and became softer as they fell out of focus.
ReplyDeleteI really like photos 10 and 14. Photo 10 has a great composition; the objects are easily recognizable, but not cliched because the photo uses the objects to create its own composition. The colors are also really nice in this photo. I really like 14 because it reminds me of how strange it can be to see a huge splash of color in the city - in the middle of winter. I think this photo illustrates that greatly. I also like how the background is blurred and the photo focuses on the detail of the objects.
