I think your work is very appropriate to life, I can figure out each photo's shot address of your shooting, but these works is still great. First of all, I want to say that you can use some filters make colors more bright. My favorite photos are No. 3, 5, 6 and 9. Fluorescent lamp in the dark environment always can show the best side, pink and blue is good color match, very impressive. Pic 9 have great composition, looks like the "puppy" wanna pounce on the stage. So for POW I wanna vote Pic 3.
Katie, your photos are amazing! Photo 1, it is very well composed. About half is sea, and another half is sky. Also, wave looks mystery. Philadelphia Museum of Art photo looks great. You captured people together so this photo looks active. Colors of photo 3 are very beautiful. Where did you find this neon sign? Photo 11 looks like a merry-go-round. I have to say that the way of composing this picture is very interesting. Rather than placing the object in the middle, sky is two-third of the picture. The whole picture looks harmonious because the object and background has skyblue color. I would vote for photo 11 as POW.
Hi Katie, I think you have achieved really good color quality especially on photo 12, and 7. I like how the colors are reflecting on the bottles on 12. Also, composition on 7 is great. I feel like this is small objects but you took this picture with close-up. I wonder what this object is, and I think the empty spaces provide some break on this picture. I enjoy seeing closed-up shots such as 6 and 18.
One thing I noticed about your photos collectively is that they all have a soft tint to them, which, for me, adds a dreamy effect to each. This effect makes each photo work very well next to one another and flow while looking at each individually. I especially like photo 3. At first glance the red and blue colors bounce off one another but also fade into each other really well. This sign looks like it’s just floating in the air which I found immediately eye catching. Upon further inspection I could see the black wires behind the photo that added a realistic tone to the photo. Instead of a floating object it was then grounded in reality because obviously this needed to light up somehow. Photo 10 is my next favorite in your group. I think this picture works really well for this project because each of the colors manage to play off one another but also adding in some mystery as to what’s going on if we zoom out. This photo is blocked in an interesting way that allows for each color to stick out. I can really see what you were looking at in this photo. Obviously there’s something going on past the borders of this photo but you narrowed it down to an interesting area that I find incredibly engaging. I would vote photo 10 as POW.
Hi Katie! I love your use of color in these photos. Many of them are soft, which add that "dreamy" effect that Morgan mentions in her comment. I also think you have a great composition approach. The closeness and proximity may be a bit too immediate for your viewer, however.. You may want to try getting photos close up but also including some of the environment, something that would make the viewer question what else is in the photographers view. For example, photos 10 and 12 could be improved if you included a little something else to look at. Although, I do love how the colors worked in photo 12. I also really like photo number 4 because it sets an ambient mood by using the dim lights and shadows that we find in museums. It is an active photo that shows people looking at art in a particular way, which is cool because you are using your art to show other people looking at art. Definitely something different than I have seen before. It makes me wonder how they feel about what they're looking at, what museum they're at, ect. It adds that two way communication that is needed in art. I also like the framing strategy you used. The audience is aligned with the right edge and the art is on the left. It really focuses the viewer on what YOUR perspective is. I am going to vote for number 11 as your photo of the week. I was immediately drawn to it because of the cotton-candy like colors. The unique angle of view also drew my attention. I began wondering who is riding the merry go round and why they are missing from the picture. It makes me want more and that's a really good way to engage your viewers.
Hi Katie, you have some awesome compositions. I like how 11 is semi-asymmetrical, adding a nice, but not overwhelming, unsettling balance to the photo. I also love the compositions in 4, 6, and 7. There seems to be a lot of vertical and diagonal lines in these photos that really altogether strengthen the piece. I would have to vote for photo 1, mainly because of the color. The sand is a nice cold, blue-gray, while the sky mirrors some cold and neutral tones, with warm tones splashed in. The contrast is captivating.
I choose photo 9 as your best. I love the colors - simple browns and whites. I also really love the silhouette of the dog. I think it brings us back to the other colors in the photo and is a really good contrast.
