Hi Kang, first of all, thank you for posting great photos every week this semester. The collections of you, your life, Philadelphia, and close-up objects show your life, memory, and what things you like! The first three photos from chapter 4 beautifully showcases spring flowers. I almost feel like Summer is here. Also, the third homeless-person photo from Philadelphia collection means a lot of things to me. Beneficial Bank logos, an indifferent passerby, and a neglected homeless person - no need to mention the banking company is rich. Very ironic and sad city picture. Lastly, I would like to vote the sixth photo from chapter 2 as your POY (picture of year). A mixture of colors is really great. I am wondering how you capture this moment! It is simple yet strong picture. I truly enjoyed all photos you have shared this semester. Keep up the good work!
Kang - I love your use of color in your photos! So colorful and bright and visually appealing. You do a great job with this. I really love the chapters "My City" and "Close Up." I think all of the photos in both of these chapters are very well done. I would pick the third photo in the My City chapter (3) as my favorite. I think it really tells a story here. First, my eye is drawn to the man with the sign who I would assume to be homeless and asking for money. Next, I notice that he's in front of a bank. Third, I notice a well dressed man walking right on by. It's honestly a sad photo with a lot to think about. I think it really captures the sadness of homelessness and how no one is willing to help. I really love this photo, so great job!
Kang, great job this semester! You do a really great job of establishing emotion even in the most ordinary objects. I agree with Christie and Hong that you also use colors very nicely. My favorite chapter in your portfolio is "My City." There is an urban theme throughout many of my photos as well, but I think your photos are unique in that they put your viewers in an actual city-walker's shoes. You capture the true essence of Philadelphia in these photos; things we see everyday but never stop and think about or appreciate. My favorite photos in this chapter are 3 and 4, but I am voting for 3 as your POY. It is ironic to me that the homeless man is sitting in front of a bank called "Beneficial," while being carelessly denied help by a businessman walking past him. This is such a common occurrence in not only Philadelphia, but all urban environments. I always feel horrible when I don't have any change or food, but this feeling comes and goes in the blink of an eye. Your photo made me stop and think about larger issues in our society (such as world hunger and poverty) that go unaddressed. Great work.
I enjoyed how each of your photos had a sense of yourself in them. I understood what you were doing and seeing with each photo. Each of your self portraits in Myself are great because each shows you in a different setting, which I think shows the progression of the semester really well. All of the photos after that work well in defining who the person is in those self portraits. My favorite chapter is My City because you achieved different aspects of the city really well. My photo of the year for you would be photo 3 in that chapter. I think it's a simple photo that tells a lot. There's very little happening but there's such a story to be told of a homeless man sitting outside of a bank and another man carelessly walking by. Your city shots are incredible and I think this is your best one. Interesting work this semester!
Hi! Thank you for sharing your work! You organized and compiled your chapters nicely. I especially love Chapter 3, My City. The colors in these photos are just phenomenal -- I wonder if you use an app to enhance the colors? In this collection, I love photo 3 and 4. You framed the photos well and captured little stories within the large city. I can't choose one photo. I love them both!
I enjoyed your portfolio a lot! I especially like My city chapter. It has movement and excitement in that chapter. I think it is because you captured people in your shots. And I can feel movement from people. Also you created great value of colors, very clear and good quality. I also liked your close-up chapter as well (textures and shapes are great!). I would vote for my city chapter!
Kang, I really like your photos and scenes of people in the city, especially photos 3, 4, and 5 in My City. I think you capture the mood of a city very nicely in these three photos. I especially like the lighting in photo 4, and how it is framed. I would like to vote for photo 3 of Myself as my favorite. The photo looks like it could be the still of a very dramatic moment in a film. The way you captured the light on the snow and on your face at night is great, and something that is difficult to do. The white snow on your black coat also creates a really nice contrast.
Great job on your portfolio. I really enjoyed looking at your pictures. You did a very nice job of having variety and they were all equally intriguing. I like your first Chapter Myself. I think you did a nice job capturing times in your life and photographing them. I also liked your chapter close-up. The colors in that chapter were amazing and bright I loved it. Your very last picture of the peppers is my very favorite and i vote it your pow.
