Hi Lauren, I have truly enjoyed your final portfolio, a great mixture of both old and new photos. Especially, two dramatic sunset photos such as photo 19 and 20 are excellent complements to photo 22 and 23. I want to highlight photo 2 as well. The curtain diagonally cuts it into about half which makes it interesting. A wonderful composition! Finally, I would like to vote photo 17 which I have seen from your vintage photo collection as your POY (picture of year). Overlapped photos are aligned greatly, and represent your memory, so the photo itself tells story. All of your photos I have seen this semester were really great!
I really enjoyed your photos throughout the semester and I like your portfolio and organization. I can see a clear theme in your photos and you have a certain way of shooting that I really admire. Great job! I would have to say my favorite photo in your final portfolio would be #17. I chose this as your photo of the week for the crit you posted it before and it still remains as one of my favorites. I love the editing and overlays you used here and this picture really tells a story. Great job this semester!
I really enjoyed your final portfolio a lot. Especially, better days chapter attracted my eyes right away. I like how you have one point where the lights are coming out. They are really awesome. It also has vintage quality as well.I would like to vote for 24.
I've been a fan of your photos all semester. You've worked well with each assignment. I like the way your chapters are organized and each fits with the title really well. My favorite had to be City Life and how it felt very accurate to describing the city. Each photo almost felt nostalgic. Out of all your photos I've really enjoyed #9. I think it's a really simple photo but it also has so much going on with the reflection in the water and what's around the water. With that said I would vote that for photo of the year. Great work!!
Hi Lauren, I really like the variety in the chapter City Living. I really like how you framed your photos and the use of light throughout your portfolio. Photo 21 is a perfect example of this. The way the tree frames the photograph is beautiful; especially how the light hits the branches and one side of the bridge, creating nice dimension. The dark shadow underneath the bridge leaves the viewer with a strong sense of mystery. I also really admire your use of repeating shapes within frames, like in photo 19. The bubbles, the bubble blower, and the setting sun, create a nice unity within the frame. Photos 12, 13, and 14 demonstrate how much variety you use in framing technique. I would have to vote for photo 4 as my favorite. The processing, color, scenery, and framing is magnificent; the photo makes me feel as I am taking flight. I especially like how the cars frame the sidewalk, which is a completely different value from the rest of the photo.
Lauren, I think you did a fantastic job of composing photos that make the viewer wonder what's outside the edges of the picture. While many of the subjects are apparent, there is definitely still and air of mystery to your shots. My favorite chapter of yours would have to be "city living." My choice for your POY is the first photo of city living. I love the shot of the ominous dark clouds in the sky which gives the viewer a sense of anticipation for an oncoming storm. Great job this semester!
I loved you photos they were all very nicely done. You had some really awesome filters that made the photos even better. I would like to vote for photo 24 for you POW.
